More Acts for Ilkley Jazz Festival

Ilkley Jazz festival was supposed to run over the weekend of the 20th August, but we couldn’t help ourselves and decided to start early this year!!! With a performance from Sheffield based Nicola Farnon in the intimate setting of Monkmans Restaurant. We have still to establish the price for the meal and the music but we can tell you this will be on Tuesday 16th starting at 7.30pm.
Bookings for this event are being taken directly by Monkmans, so please call 01943 817485

Multi talented Nicola is both singing and playing bass who is delightfully original, warm and witty in performance will be accompanied by Andy Cholerton.

On Thursday 18th August, 7.30pm we head to the Craiglands bar for the York based Firebird Quartet who are a trumpet led band that plays contemporary jazz, funky grooves and has their own take on modern standards. The set will contain material by Wynton Marsalis, Terrance Blanchard and Wayne Shorter as well as original material. This is a free (as in it doesn’t cost you) performance.

We have already announced that Tina May will be headlining on Friday night in the Winter Gardens with her Piaf show, but we have sneaked an extra gem in for you before. At Monkmans Restaurant 6.30pm, Emma Fisk (violin) form Newcastle returns to Ilkley Jazz Festival with James Birkett (guitar) with a set inspired by one of the founders of ‘hot’ style strings in jazz, Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang, they will be playing a mix of show case numbers such as ‘Raggin’ the Scale’ and ‘Black and Blue bottom’ to put you in the mood for Tina May, or head to Monkmans later (730pm) and catch Emma and James at it again! Again we haven’t the prices worked out yet but please make reservations directly at Monkmans Restaurant on 01943 817 485
